Riau flood victims need medication

The Jakarta Post, Kampar, Riau | Thu, 12/29/2011 10:11 AM

Residents of Kampar, Riau, need medication to treat skin ailments and other maladies in the wake of flooding that inundated more than 1,100 houses.

“As of today, we have received support like rice and instant noodles. But we haven’t received any medication,” Kampar Kiri district resident Jafri Datuk told antaranews.com on Thursday.

The Kampar regency administration said that the villages of Kunsut, Domo, Teluk Paman and Kuntu remained inundated to a depth of up to 1.5 meters, although the flooding has receded elsewhere.

The floods that hit the regency four days ago would continue until January, according to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency's (BMKG) Pekanbaru office.
