Indonesia, 26 June - More than 200 lives have been claimed by the flash floods in South Sulawesi Indonesia. Over 70 people are still missing. Over five hundred homes, 3,300 hectares of rice fields, 150 hectares of coffee plantations have been heavily damaged. Since 22 June, Taiwan Buddhists Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation (Tzu Chi) has distributed 100 tons of rice, 1,000 sarongs and other emergency relief items to over 2,200 victim families.
On 22 June, an 18 member relief and medical team from Tzu Chi Foundation Indonesia arrived in the flood-affected districts of Jeneponto, Bantaeng, Bulukumba and Sinjai.

To date, 2,277 families have received relief food items from Tzu Chi. Each family received a 20 kg bag of rice, instant noodles, biscuits and bottled water. These relief items were sent from Jakarta on 23 June.

Although Padang and Sinjai districts are 280 km apart, local Tzu Chi volunteers in Padang still overcame various obstacles to bring relief goods to the flood victims. Locals were moved by their efforts and assisted the volunteer through the process.
It is hope through inspiring more people to join in the benevolent action of helping others, the pains and suffering of the victims will be eased by this Great Love.
