The amount of victims and damages caused by the earthquake of magnitude 6.5 that occurred this morning (7/12) continues to increase. To speed up the response process,the Governor of Aceh set disaster emergency status to Emergency Response Disaster for 14 days (December 7 to 20, 2016) through a letter Number.39/ PER / 2016. The emergency response period is valid for three districts namely Pidie Jaya district, Pidie and Bireuen. The stipulation of emergency response is needed to facilitate the emergency response and ease of access using the potential existing resources.

Emergency Operational Centre Operation (Emergency operational center) National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) until 15:00 pm mentions there are 95 died victims (Pidie Jaya 91, 2 Bireuen, Pidie 1) 128 people are badly injured (125 Pidie Jaya, Bireuen 3), 489 people are injured (Pidie Jaya 411, Bireuen 78). Most injuries people are referred to the hospital TGK Chik Ditiro Sigli. The Pos is opened in the hospital to provide information to public related to the victims who are treated in the hospital.

The result of rapid assessment of damage as a result of the impact of this earthquake Shows that there are 161 houses are severely damaged (Pidie Jaya 86, 35 Bireuen, Pidie 40) and 105 shop houses in Pidie Jaya and other public buildings, such as 14 mosques, 1school and one health centre. Since this morning, there are 3 excavators that have been deployed in Meureudu District start as well as some heavy equipment which have been mobilized to search for the buried victims. BPBD is assisted by the military, police, relevant agencies and volunteers continue to conduct search and evacuation. Approximately, there are 740 military personnel are located in the affected areas to conduct emergency response. BPBD facilitates personnel support to help Emergency response in Pidie Jaya.

To help medical personnel handle the victims of the earthquake, some medical personnel and medicines have been sent to Pidie Jaya area. The medical team of the hospital Muhammadiyah Lhoksumawe have been dispatched this afternoon along with 6 personnel to provide medical services and perform Rapid Health Assessment (RHA). While the medical team of the Muhammadiyah Medan hospital that consist of 6 personnel ( 1 doctor, 2 nurses and 3 volunteers will be dispatched to assist in MDMC PP Muhammadiyah post to Aceh today.
