Landslide in Purbalingga and Banyumas, Central Java Province and several parts of Indonesia, Republic of Indonesia, Situation Report (SR -1), 11 April 2012


This report covers the landslide incident from 2 - 8 April 2012


  • On Sunday, 8 April 2012 at 21.00 PM local time (UCT+7), a heavy rainfall caused landslide in 2 villages: Sangkanayu village (Mrebet sub-district), Purbalingga district and Baseh village (Kedungbanteng sub-district), Banyumas district, Central Java province;

  • On Thursday, 5 April 2012 at 14.00 PM, the landslide occurred in Gembor sub-village hamlet 03/01, Sukamulya village, Kutawaringin sub-district, Bandung district, West Java province;

  • On Friday, 6 April 2012 at 10.30 AM local time (UCT+7), landslide occurred Putat sub-village, Jlegong village, Bejen sub-district, Temanggung district, Central Java province. The landslide was caused by the digging project of drinking water installment.

  • On Monday, 2 April 2012 at 22.00 PM, heavy rainfall caused a landslide Mekarjaya village, Mande sub-district, Cianjur district, West Java province. The landslide blocked the road and a bridge.

  • Center for Health Crisis, Ministry of Health reported death of 5 persons, minor injury of 2 persons, and IDPs of 3,000 persons. Two vehicles of Ternate Provincial Health Office (PHO) were damaged.

  • In overall, the related PHO and District Health Office (DHOs) have already evacuated the victims, provided medical services.

  • Purbalingga and Banyumas DHO, Temanggung DHO, Bandung DHO, Cianjur DHO, Central Java PHO, West Java PHO, Central Java RCC and Center for Health Crisis MOH are monitoring the situation closely.

  • WHO is in close contact with MOH in monitoring the situation through Health Crisis Center MOH. In case the situation warrant, WHO will provide any assistance needed.
