Indonesia - Volcanic eruption, update (BNPB, MAGMA, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 14 November 2024)

  • New eruptions have been recorded as well as volcanic earthquakes in the Lewotobi Laki-laki volcano, East Flores regency, East Nusa Tenggara province. On 14 November the volcanic ash reached up to 3,000 m above the crater.
  • According to the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB) as of 13 November, 13,116 people have been sheltered across eight evacuation centres, most of them in the Titehena district which is hosting almost 7,000 people. In addition, in the past few days some flights in Blai islands have been cancelled due to the volcanic activity.
  • National authorities continue to provide emergency assistance for those affected.
  • The alert level of the volcano still stands at level 4.
