Indonesia - Volcanic eruption, update (BNPB, MAGMA, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 08 November 2024)

  • The Lewotobi Laki-laki volcano, in East Flores regency, East Nusa Tenggara province, erupted eight times on 7 November, with volcanic ashes that reached 8,000 m above the summit of the crater.
  • As of 7 November, according to the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), around 2,000 people have been displaced from East Flores Regency to Sikka Regency after the last eruptions. Media reports, as of the same date, that more than 8,000 people are sheltered in evacuation centres.
  • The alert level of the volcano still stands at level 4 and all the activities within a radius of 7 km from the crater are forbidden.
