Indonesia - Volcanic eruption, update (BNPB, MAGMA) (ECHO Daily Flash of 25 March 2025)

  • Following the eruptions of the Lewotobi Laki-laki volcano, in East Flores regency, East Nusa Tenggara province on 20-21 March, almost 4,500 people have been displaced as reported by the national authorities.
  • Since 23 March, minor explosions have been recorded and the ash column reached up to 100 m above the crater. Additionally, in the past 24 hours, fewer than 50 volcanic earthquakes have been recorded, a decrease compared to the more than 300 reported on March 20.
  • The alert level remains at 4, the maximum. All activities within a 6 km radius of the crater are prohibited, and people must avoid the southwest-northeast sector up to 7 km from the crater.
