On 17 June at 10:50 UTC, the Lewotobi Laki-laki volcano, located in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, erupted again. The explosion produced an ash column rising over 10 km high and generated pyroclastic flows spreading in all directions.
According to the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), no casualties have been reported so far. However, ashfall has affected several villages near the volcano, including Boru, Hewa, Animal, and Watobuku. In addition, some residents from Nurabelen Village in the Ile Bura District have been preventively evacuated to shelters in Konga.
The alert level remains at 4, the highest on the scale. All activities are prohibited within a 6 km radius of the crater, and people are advised to avoid the southwest–northeast sector up to 7 km from the crater.
