The Lewotobi Laki-laki volcano, in East Flores regency, East Nusa Tenggara province, has increased its activity since 13 February with ash plumes reaching 1,500 m above the summit of the crater and intense seismic activity.
According to the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), an evacuation order has been issued on 13 February for residents of the six villages in the disaster-prone area of East Flores regency.
On the same day, the volcano's alert level was raised from level 3 to level 4, all activities within a radius of 6 km from the crater are forbidden, people have to avoid the southwest-northeast sector up to 7 km distance from the crater.
Local authorities are monitoring the ongoing activity.
