Indonesia: US concretizes $212 million Indonesia's debt moratorium

Jakarta, Indonesia-Relief -- US government has signed MoU to concretize its promises to give debt moratorium to Indonesia, as part of tsunami aid packages. The $212 million saved from Indonesian regular debt payment will be used to finance Aceh and Nias reconstruction.

According to statement released by Ministry of Finance Public Relation Office today, the MOU signed on Tuesday by US Ambassador to Indonesia and Director of State Treasury of Indonesian Ministry of Finance.

''The Rescheduling of this debt payment is a follow up of debt moratorium MoU made by Paris Club,'' said the public relation office head Marwanto Harjowiryono.

By signing this bilateral moratorium, Marwanto said, the people and government of US show their support toward Indonesia plan to rebuil Aceh and Nias. © wan
