Indonesia: Tzu Chi to spend $21 million for Aceh houses

Banda Aceh, Indonesia-Relief -- During a ceremony held at BRR's office in Banda Aceh on Monday, the Indonesian Tzu Chi Buddha Foundation signed an agreement to build 2,700 homes valued at Rp 200 billion (US$21 million) for IDPs in tsunami-affected parts of Aceh.

The Head of the Tzu Chi Indonesia, Sugianto, signed the agreement with the Mayor of Banda Aceh, Mawardi Nurdin, as well as two Regents representing West and Aceh Besar, witnessed by BRR Director Kuntoro and BRR Vice Director, Acting Governor of Aceh Azwar Abubakar.

According to BRR Media Update, the project is scheduled to be completed by January 2006, and will not only provide homes for IDPs but also public facilities, including mosques.© dil
