The rainy season continues to affect most parts of Indonesia, causing floods, flash floods and landslides that result in casualties, severe weather-related incidents and damage.
According to the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), one person died in the Sumbawa Regency area, West Nusa Tenggara province due to a flash flood event. Another person died in Jayapura city, Papua province due to a flood event. In Situbondo regency, East Java province, 1,280 families have been affected by flash floods. Furthermore, strong winds have hit Cilacap regency, Central Java province, East Lampung regency, Lampung province leading to more than 500 damaged houses.
For the next 48 hours, moderate to locally very heavy rainfall is expected over most parts of the affected provinces of Indonesia.
