Indonesia – Severe Weather (BNPB, BMKG, Local Media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 21 February 2017)

◾Heavy rain has been affecting most of the country over the past few days, causing floods. Approx. 144 mm of rain were recorded in Jakarta city (Java island) in 24 h over 20 - 21 February.

◾According to local media, as of 21 February at 7.00 UTC, one person died in Bekasi city (West Java province), over 5 000 people have been evacuated and more than 1 580 houses have been damaged. Traffic has been disrupted in the provinces of Central Java, West Java, East Jakarta and North Sulawesi.

◾Over the next 24 h, moderate with locally heavy rain may affect the western and central areas of the country, especially in the areas already affected.
