Description

  1. Heavy rainfall on several districts in West Sumatera province has caused flash flood to Padang Panjang city, Tanah Darat district and Agam district.

  2. It is believed the flash flood was actually cold-lava flow from Mount Marapi which erupted in December 2023 and remain active with currently at level 3 (orange level)

  3. As of reporting date, there are 50 people reported dead, 27 people misisng, 23 people injured and 3,396 people displaced by the flash flood. In addition, the flash flood damaged 5 schools, 11 mosque, 1 government building, 15 bridges and 50 hectare of paddy field.

  4. Access from Padang Panjang city to Pada city is completely cut off.

  5. Responding to the situation, Agam district, Padang Panjang and Tanah Datar districts authority declared 'emergency response' status to their respective area starting from 12 May 2024 to 25 May 2024
