Banda Aceh, Indonesia-Relief -- Indonesian natural gas company, PT Badak NGL, has completed reconstruction of SMP 2, a middle school in Lampuuk, Aceh Besar. Wahyudi, director of the natural gas company, today handed over the school to Head of Aceh Educational Office Zulkifli, as well as signed an inscription stone in the school yard.
On handing over the school, the East
Kalimantan based natural gas company director said he is sorry for the
late completion of the school. The school used to be completed on May,
but lack of construction material as well as other obstruction has hampered
the construction project. The first stone of the project inaugurated on
April 20.
According to statement released by Aceh Public Relation Office, the school that has been reconstructed by Badak NGL has 8 class room and 1 meeting hall. Additionally, the natural gas company also built 2 houses for school teachers in the school area. All the building constructed using earthquake friendly technology.
To finish the project on top of 13,000 square meters land, the gas company spent about Rp 850 million. Wahyudi also said that his company will continue its support to SMP 2 in the coming years, as the company already has an educational foundation that also provide similar assistance to other school in Indonesia.
Daud Mansyur, the community leader of Lampuuk, praised the natural gas company support to reconstruction in his areas. He said the school will benefit not only people in Lampuuk, but also people in neighboring villages. It is because 'kemukiman' Lampuuk consist of three villages: Lampuuk, Lhok Nga, and Lam Lhom. =A9 dro
