Indonesia: More than a thousand houses damaged by recent Aceh quake

A 7.7-magnitude earthquake that rocked Aceh on Thursday has damaged at least 1,005 houses in Simeulue and Aceh Singkil regencies, Antara news agency reported.

According to data from local disaster management agency, the total number of houses severely damaged in Aceh Singkil had reached 124, and 43 in Simeulue.

Reports said that 207 houses had been moderately damaged and 631 lightly damaged in Simeulue.

Four people have been severely injured and eight others lightly injured. No fatalities were reported in the quake, which centered at 75 kilometers southeast of Sinabang in Aceh province.
