- Heavy rainfall has been affecting northern Indonesia (in particular Sumatra Island) and neighbouring Peninsular Malaysia (particularly the southern States of Melaka and Johor) since 13 July, causing floods and landslides that have resulted in casualties and damage.
- In Indonesia, the ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as of 18 July, three fatalities across the West Sumatra Province, of which one in Padang Pariaman Regency, one in Agam Regency and one more in Pesisir Selatan Regency. In addition, ADINet reports two missing persons, 370 displaced people, a total of nearly 24,000 affected people and over 5,600 affected houses by floods and landslides.
- In Malaysia, approximately 65 people resulted displaced across the Tangkak District (Johor State) and the nearby Jasin District (Melaka State).
- Over the next 48 hours, more rainfall is forecast over the whole Peninsular Malaysia and most of the Sumatra Island.
