The death toll increased following the landslides and flash floods event that affected North Sumatra province in the past few days.
According to national authorities and media, 20 people died across four districts, Karo, South Tapanuli, Padang Lawas and Deli Serdang. Most of the casualties have been recorded in Karo district where ten people died, and two houses and one mosque have been heavily damaged due to landslide events.
For the next 24 hours, moderate to locally very heavy rainfall is expected across the hit province.
