Sydney, Indonesia-Relief -- About 15kms from Banda Aceh, only 570 of Lam Bada's village of 2,300 survived the tsunami on Boxing Day.
But in July 05 the men are back working with new and rebuild fishing boats and the village has a bus, thanks to Austcare funding.
The Australian NGO also funded the planting of mangroves to restore sustainable fish and prawn breeding grounds and supported Lam Bada's women into re-establishing kiosks and chicken farming.
The bus is a favourite of Lam Bada's children - only 50 of the previous 250 survived. The mini-bus takes 30 to and from the school and also helps adults access the market and medical services.
Austcare is also providing building materials and job training. =A9 alan
