Indonesia: IHCP Situation Report #4 on Floods, Flash Floods, and Landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra provinces

Highlights

• As of December 11, BNPB reported that the number of IDPs had decreased to 884,889 people. The highest number is in Aceh with 816,742 people, in North Sumatra with 53,523 people, and in West Sumatra with 13,624.

• The death toll has reached 990 and 222 people are missing in 52 affected districts/cities in the three provinces.

• In the health sector, the Ministry of Health reported that, as of December 12, 3 private hospitals and 38 health centers in Aceh were not operational; in North Sumatra, one hospital and three health centers. Meanwhile, in West Sumatra, all health facilities have been functioning. The diseases that many IDPs suffer from in Aceh are Acute Respiratory Tract Infection/ISPA (5,286 people) and skin diseases (4,583). In North Sumatra, skin diseases (7,666 people) and ISPA (6,492 people). In West Sumatra, ISPA (1,071 people) and hypertension (442 people).

• In the education sector, as of December 12, disasters in the three provinces affected 3,097
education units, 270,421 students, and 25,331 teachers.
