Karanganyar administration has evacuated around 600 residents of Nglegok village to safer grounds in fear of more landslide in the area.
Iskandar, Karanganyar regency spokesman, said they were afraid for more landslide considering the cloudy and drizzling weather. The administration had set up a logistic post the refugees.
"The village is located amidst hills and the land is known to be easily moved," he said as quoted by Antara news agency.
A landslide, caused by a heavy downpour, hit houses in the village on early Saturday morning. Four residents were found dead after the incident. Search team was still looking for another missing villager
Two dead victims, Fitri (12) and Satinem (40), were properly buried on Saturday morning in a funeral led by the regency's deputy chief.
The other two victims, M. Ilham (2) and Ariotomo (60) - both related -, are yet to be properly buried. The family said they were going to wait until the search team find Tumi (50), the missing villager who is believed to have died. (dre)
