Indonesia - Floods (IFRC, ADINet, BMKG) (ECHO Daily Flash of 05 March 2025)

  • Since 2 March, heavy rainfall has been affecting Java Island, causing flooding and river overflows that have resulted in displacements and damage.
  • According to the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC), as of 4 March, a total of 2,655 people have been evacuated due to the overflows of Ciliwung, Cikeas, Cilengsih and Kali Angke rivers, of whom 2,406 in the Special Capital Region of Jakarta and 249 in Bogor regency, at least 9,462 people have been affected across the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, Banten and West Java provinces, including 5,640 in Jakarta city. In addition, 2,093 houses have been affected by flooding.
  • Over the next 48 hours, more rainfall is forecasted over most Java Island, and heavy rainfall is expected over western Sumatra Island.
