Indonesia - Floods (BNPB, ADINet, BMKG) (ECHO Daily Flash of 11 July 2024)

  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting north-eastern Indonesia (in particular the Maluku Islands) since 10 July, causing floods that resulted in population displacement and damage.
  • The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) and the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) report, as of 12 July, eight displaced people, nearly 1,950 affected people, more than 550 affected houses and three damaged bridges across the Seram Bagian Barat regency (Maluku province). In addition, ADINet reports over 700 affected people in the neighbouring North Sulawesi province.
  • Over the next 24 hours, more heavy rainfall is still forecasted over the Maluku Islands.
