Heavy rainfall has been affecting eastern and central Indonesia since 17 December, triggering landslides and causing floods that have resulted in population displacement and damage.
The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as 20 December, nearly 110 evacuated people in four evacuation centres, and more than 30 damaged houses across the Makassar regency , South Sulawesi province. In addition, ADINet also reports more than 6,800 affected people, and over 1,700 damaged houses in the Dompu regency, West Nusa Tenggara province. Moreover, approximately 950 affected people, and over 300 damaged houses were reported in the Jayapura regency, Papua province.
Over the next 96 hours, more heavy rainfall with locally very heavy rainfall is still forecast over most of eastern and central Indonesia.
