Heavy rainfall has been affecting the provinces of East Java, West Java, and Banten in Indonesia over the past few days, causing flooding and damage.
As of 25 May, the ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reported that a total of 6,986 people have been affected, with the majority (4,412) in East Java, followed by 1,924 in Banten, and 650 in West Java. Additionally, 1,708 houses have been impacted by the flooding.
From 26 to 29 May, forecasts indicate that West Java, East Java, East Kalimantan, and North Kalimantan can expect heavy to extreme rainfall, potentially accompanied by lightning and strong winds. As a result, alerts have been issued for these four provinces. Meanwhile, moderate rainfall is expected in Banten and across the rest of Indonesia.
