Heavy rainfall affected central Indonesia - in particular the Java island - over the period from 17 to 20 May, causing floods and rivers to overflow that have resulted in population displacement and damage.
The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as of 21 May, 105 evacuated people in two evacuation centres across the Karawang regency, West Java province and the neighbouring Demak regency, Central Java province. In addition, ADINet also reports a total of nearly 12,900 affected people and around 3,200 affected houses across both the aforementioned regencies.
Over the next 96 hours, more heavy rainfall with locally very heavy rainfall is forecast over the whole of Java island.
