Indonesia - Floods (ADINet, BMKG) (ECHO Daily Flash of 17 July 2025)

  • Heavy rainfall affected eastern Indonesia, in particular, the Maluku islands, and Indonesian Papua over the last 48 hours, causing floods and overflowing rivers that have resulted in casualties and damage.
  • The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as of 17, two fatalities, nearly 550 affected people, and 136 damaged houses across the Sula Islands regency, North Maluku province. In addition, ADINet also reports approximately 200 affected people and 50 damaged houses in the Sorong regency, Southwest Papua province.
  • Over the next 48 hours, more heavy rainfall, with locally very heavy rainfall, is forecast over the Maluku islands, and Indonesian Papua.
