Indonesia: Flood and landslide in Jember, East Java

Heavy rain started 2006 in Jember, East Java and caused flood and landslide that killed 31 people. Heavy rain poured since 7 p.m. on 1 January 2006 and caused flood and landslide on 2 January 2006. The landslide hit the dwellings that located in the slope of Mount Argopuro , the most affected disaster areas are Kecamatan Panti and Kecamatan Rambebegi.
YEU team that consists of nurse and community organizer is conducting rapid response. The team reported that aid such as food item has come from the communities and government official, but blanket is still needed. Medical assistance for some IDPs posts is served by local hospital and puskesmas (community health center).
