Recent heavy rain triggered flash floods and landslides in Central and North Sulawesi provinces, leading to casualties.
According to national authorities, one person died in Bolaang Mongondow Regency (North Sulawesi) and at least 55 houses or public facilities were damaged. More than 3,900 people have been displaced across North Sulawesi. Several villages remain inaccessible due to landslides damaging road infrastructure and a dyke broke in North Bolaang Mongondow Regency.
In Central Sulawesi, one person is missing in Poso City and approximately 900 people have been displaced. More than 72 houses were destroyed or damaged.
For the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain is expected across North Sulawesi and heavy rain over Central Sulawesi.
