Following the floods and landslides in Sentani District (Jayapura Province), the number of dead has increased.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB), as of 19 March, 89 people are dead, 74 are missing and 159 injured. 6 831 people are housed in 15 evacuation centres. 58 625 people have been affected and 350 houses damaged.
National authorities are handling rescue and emergency activities and the Social Affairs Ministry has spent USD 140 538 on disaster relief in Jayapura Province.
Over the next 24 hours, moderate to heavy rain is forecast over the area.
