TORONTO / December 26, 2004 - The Canadian Catholic Organization for DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE (CCODP) is accepting funds to aid victims of the massive earthquake and tsunami that devastated parts of Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India and Thailand.
The organization is sending $100,000 immediately in emergency aid. DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE will channel its emergency response through CARITAS INTERNATIONALIS. Caritas India will receive $50,000, and Caritas Sri Lanka (SEDEC) will receive $50,000 to purchase basic necessities such as water, food, medical supplies and shelter.
DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE is the Canadian member of CARITAS INTERNATIONALIS, the Rome-based Catholic relief, development, and social service organization present in more than 200 countries and territories.
