ASEAN Weekly Disaster Update, 4 - 10 April 2016

INDONESIA

  • An earthquake of 5.9 magnitude occurred in Bengkulu and damaged 40 houses.
  • High intensity rainfall caused flooding in Sungai Penuh, Jambi Province. Floodwaters reached a height of 60 cm forcing citizens to leave their homes. 100 houses were submerged and 100 families were evacuated.
  • Landslides in District Jrengik, Sampang, Madura, East Java have affected 1000 people.

THAILAND

  • Drought continues to affect 4,000 villages in 27 provinces. 4 provinces are facing hazardous haze.

VIET NAM

  • The Southern Central Region, Central High Land and the Southeast continues to experience drought. 365,146 households are affected.
  • Hail have occurred in Tuyen Quang, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai and Son La Province. 1 person is missing and 4,585 families were affected.
  • Strong winds occurred in Nghe An province and damaged 27 houses.
