West Sumatra, Indonesia - A 6.5M earthquake hit last 02 June at 5:56am (UTC + 7) with epicenter 72 km deep and located 79 km off the coast of Southwestern South Coast West Sumatra or 115 km Northwest Muko-Muko Bengkulu. No tsunami warning was issued and none occurred.
The National Disaster Management Authority of Indonesia (BNPB) immediately responded. Subsequent assessment showed that 856 houses were damaged in Pesisir Selatan District, and 56 in Mukomuko District. 16 people were injured in West Sumatra Province. The same number of people were injured in Bengkulu Province.
