1.655 Joint Personnel Evacuated 2 Dead Victims in Ponorogo Landslide, 26 still Missing

JAKARTA - As many as 1.655 SAR personnel from BPBD, TNI, Polri, Basarnas, Tagana, PMI, SKPD, NGO, volunteer and local residents kept searching 28 victims buried in Banaran Village, Pulung, Ponorogo. The Joint SAR found 2 victims dead. The victims were delivered to identification post. There are 26 people still missing buried the landslide in searching.

It is not easy to find the victims. The disaster ground buried the landslide material at the wide affected area. In some spots, the thickness of material is up to 20 meter. Besides, weather, accessibility to the ground, lack of equipment and communication and subsequent landslide are challenges on the ground. Heavy rain on Sunday afternoon (2/4) at 13.30 pm caused the search operation was postponed temporarily. Seven heavy equipment were mobilized to the ground. At the moment, other heavy equipment are on the way to the location.

Meanwhile, 300 people are evacuated to their neighbors. The survivors need basic needs, such as food, clean water, clothes, blankets, and other needs. 35 families or 128 people did not bring their things while the landslide material was moving to hit their houses. Meanwhile, 200 people are people who live closely to the affected villages. They also evacuated to safer places because of potential landslide. Some survivors are trauma because of member of their families are still missing and the memory of incidents with rumbles sound.

Humanitarian aids are mobilized continuously from various parties. Coordination meeting will be conducted today. Chief of BNPB and BPBD Province and all parties will conduct the meeting to speed up the emergency response. A command post will be established immediately to effective the response. Search and rescue operation will be conducted based on sectors. The heavy equipment and personnel are supported by K9 for searching. Mobile kitchen will be established for supporting the victims.
