10 die, 7 missing in landslide in West Java, Indonesia

JAKARTA, Nov 14, 2008 (Xinhua via COMTEX News Network) -- Ten people were killed and seven others went missing in a landslide in West Java province of Indonesia, National Disaster Management Agency Said here on Friday.

Heavy rains caused landslide and floods in Campaka and Cibeber districts of Cianjur regency of the province at midnight on Thursday, military command in charge of the regency Budi Himawan told Xinhua via telephone.

The military officer said that rescue work was underway and 54 houses have been buried by the landslide.

Indonesia has been frequently hit by floods and landslides.
