Training government representatives to be better prepared for disasters

MAJULI [ACTED News] – In Majuli Island, Assam State, India, communities are hit by frequent disasters, such as recurrent floods. ACTED teams are working to strengthen vulnerable communities in being prepared for and facing disasters by building capacity at both community and government levels.

Governmental representatives in Majuli Island were trained on disaster risk reduction in general, on their role and responsibilities before, during and after a disaster, and on how disaster risk reduction can be mainstreamed in development.

Trainings for governmental representatives will regularly take place, to increase the sustainability and effectiveness of disaster risk reduction activities across the hazard-prone state of Assam.
