Tamil Nadu announces relief package of 1,000 crore for cyclone relief

NEW DELHI: Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday announced immediate allocation of Rs 1,000 crore for relief and restoration work after Cyclone Gaja left a trail of destruction and claimed 46 lives in the state’s central and coastal districts. “I sanctioned Rs 5,000 to every family staying in relief centres, which lost homes, and to those who suffered damage to boats. A sum of Rs 3,800 will be paid to each family to buy clothes and utensils,” Palaniswami said in his statement. He also ordered supply of milk to all 2.51 lakh inmates of government relief centres.
