RAINFALL/FLOOD SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY

♦ Yesterday, the southwest monsoon was normal over East Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Konkan& goa, Assam & Meghalaya, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Coastal Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.

Rain/thundershowers occurred at many places over Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Coastal Karnataka & Kerala; at a few places over Himachal Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Konkan& Goa, North interior Karnataka, Vidarbha, Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and at isolated places over Jharkhand, West Rajasthan, Odisha & Haryana. Weather remained mainly dry/dry over rest parts of the country. The amounts of rainfall (1 cm or more) recorded at 1730 hours IST of yesterday were: Jagdalpur-6; Diamond Harbour-5; Amritsar, Mysore and Punalur-4 each; Akola, Keonjhargarh, Churu, Kodaikanal and Gaya-3 each; Ludhiana, Nizamabad, Sagar, Balurghat, Jalpaiguri, Behraich, Mangalore and Canning-2 each; Kottayam, Kozhikode, Narsapur, Malda, Bankura, Ramagundam, Chennai, Maya Bandar, Long Islands, Sidhi, Pachmarhi, Amraoti, Parbhani, Mana Raipur Jammu, Ambikapur, Ongole and Haldia-1 each.

According to the Central Water Commission (CWC) report dated 15.09.2014, there is 01 Moderate flood situation sitesin the country.
