RAINFALL/FLOOD SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY

Rainfall occurred at many places over Odisha, Chhattisgarh, west coast and Andaman & Nicobar Islands: at a few places over Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, West Bengal & Sikkim and Lakshadweep and at one or two places over north-eastern states, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, north Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The chief amounts of rainfall (2 cm or more) recorded at 1730 hours IST of yesterday were: Gorakhpur, Seoni and Wardha-5 each, Pantnagar, Agartala and Rajnandgaon-3 each, Bhawanipatna, Tadong, Bilaspur, Jagdalpur, Punalur, Valparai and Medikeri-2 each.

Indian Meteorological Department (Major features of weather forecast)

• Rain/thundershowers would occur at most places over Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh and west coast during next 48 hours and decrease thereafter.

• Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places over Uttarakhand and at a few places over Himachal Pradesh during next 24 hours and increase thereafter.

• Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places over Odisha, West Bengal and Sikkim, Northeastern States, Madhya Pradesh, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar islands.

• Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and North Interior Karnataka during next 24 hours and increase thereafter.

• Rain/thundershowers would occur at one or two places over rest parts of the country.

CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION (daily water levels and forecasts for level forecast sites)

• There are no moderate flood situation sites in the country as on 24.06.2013.

DEPLOYMENT OF NATIONAL DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE (NDRF)

• 30 teams of NDRF consisting of 993 personnel have been deployed in Uttarakhand (14), Himachal Pradesh (2), Uttar Pradesh (2), Rajasthan (2), Maharashtra (2), West Bengal (2), Assam (1) ,Bihar (3) and J & K (2).
