RAINFALL/FLOOD SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY

Rainfall has occurred at many places over northeastern states, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Andaman & Nicobar Islands; at one or two places over Chhattisgarh south West Madhya Pradesh, south Gujarat region, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Tamilnadu and north Andhra Pradesh. Weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (2 cm and above) recorded at 0830 hours IST of today are: Passighat­9, Surat-7, Long Island-6, Agartala-5, Nancowry-4 and Silchar, Kailashahar, Jorhat, Jagdalpur, Carnicobar and Dharamshala-2 each.

• Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands
• Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over northeastern states, Sub-Himalayan, West Bengal & Sikkim and coastal Andhra Pradesh.
• Rain/thundershowers would occur at one or two places over Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, south Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha south Madhya Pradesh, south Gujarat region during next 24 hours.
• Rain/thundershowers would occur at one or two places over Karnataka, Kerala, Rayalaseema, Telangana and Tamilnadu during next 48 hours and increase thereafter.
• Weather would be mainly dry over rest of the country.

• There are 01 High flood situation & 18 Moderate flood situation sites in the country as on 25.09.2012.

DEPLOYMENT OF NATIONAL DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE (NDRF)

• 17 Teams consisting of 479 personnel of NDRF have been deployed in Assam –08, Andhra Pradesh-01, Maharashtra-03, Bihar-04 and Uttar Pradesh-01
