RAINFALL/FLOOD SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY

Fairly widespread rainfall activity would continue over northeastern states and south peninsular & central India. Indian Meteorological Department (Major features of weather forecast)

  • The well marked low pressure area over north Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood has weakened and now lies as a low pressure area over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining east Rajasthan. Theassociated upper air cyclonic circulation extends upto midtropospheric levels.

  • The axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Phalodi, centre of well marked lowpressure area,Ambikapur, Jamshedpur, Digha and thence southeastwards to eastcentral Bay of Bengal.

  • The feeble off shore trough from Maharashtra coast to Kerala coast persists.

  • The western disturbance over north Pakistan and adjoining Jammu & Kashmir still persists as an upper air trough in midtropospheric levels.
