RAINFALL/FLOOD SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY

  • Moderate to heavy rainfall with isolated very heavy falls have been reported in some parts of Assam, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chandigarh and Sikkim.

  • The depression over east Madhya Pradesh moved westwards and weakened into a well marked low pressure area over north Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood. Associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends upto midtropospheric levels.

  • The axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Ferozpur, Hissar, Gwalior, centre of well marked low pressure area, Ambikapur, Ranchi, Bankura and thence eastwards to Mizoram.

  • A feeble off shore trough from Maharashtra coast to Kerala coast persists.

  • The western disturbance over north Pakistan and adjoining Jammu & Kashmir persists as an upper air trough in midtropospheric levels.

  • There are 10 Moderate flood situation sites (Assam-05, Bihar-04 & Uttar Pradesh-01) in the country on 23.07.2011.
