RAINFALL/FLOOD SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY
Moderate to heavy rainfall with isolated very heavy falls have been reported in some parts of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Chandigarh, Sikkim, Goa, Manipur, Karnataka, Maharashtra & Meghalaya.

Indian Meteorological Department (Major features of weather forecast)

  • The axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Ganganagar, Hissar, Aligarh, Lucknow, Bhagalpur, Malda and thence southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal across Bangladesh.

  • An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over Haryana and neighbourhood extending upto 4.5 Km above mean sea level.

  • Another upper air cyclonic circulation lies over Bihar and neighbourhood extending upto 4.5 Km above mean sea level.

  • The off shore trough from Gujarat coast to Kerala coast persists.

  • The western disturbance over north Pakistan and adjoining Jammu & Kashmir as an upper air trough in midtropospheric levels persists.

  • The upper air cyclonic circulation over Gujarat region and neighbourhood persists and extends between 3.6 and 5.8 km above mean sea levels.

There are 09 Moderate flood situation sites (Assam-03, Uttar Pradesh-02 and Bihar-04) in the country on 19.07.2011.
