SITUATION UPDATE AND RESPONSE
Assam
• Incessant heavy to very heavy rainfall and rising water levels in rivers have created a flood-like situation in most districts of Assam. The Brahmaputra and 10 other rivers are flowing above their danger levels, as reported by the Central Water Commission (CWC).
• On 4th July, heavy rainfall was reported in some districts of the state, with an average rainfall of 5 mm recorded.
• The total death toll has risen to 52, with 6 people dying in the last 24 hours.
• About 21.13 lakh (2.113 million) people are affected in 29 districts by the second wave of flooding.
• Over 3.86 lakh (386,000) people are taking shelter in 515 relief camps and distribution centres across 24 flood-hit districts.
• 11,20,165 animals have been affected by the deluge.
• The number of affected villages has risen to 3,208.
• 31 wild animals have died due to the floodwaters in Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve.
• A total of 2,867 houses are reported damaged (fully-107, partially-2760) during current flood.
• The flood-affected districts include Goalpara, Nagaon, Nalbari, Kamrup, Morigaon, Dibrugarh, Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, South Salmara, Dhubri, Jorhat, Charaideo, Hojai, Karimganj, Sivasagar, Bongaigaon, Barpeta, Dhemaji, Hailakandi, Golaghat, Darrang, Biswanath, Cachar, Kamrup (M), Tinsukia, Karbi Anglong, Chirang, Karbi Anglong West, and Majuli.
Manipur
• Since July 1st, Manipur has experienced incessant rainfall, causing water levels in major rivers flowing through the Imphal Valley to rise above flood levels. The most adversely affected districts are Imphal and Senapati.
• A total of 49 landslide incidents have occurred at multiple locations in the state over the last 72 hours.
• Severe waterlogging and rivers reaching high flood levels have been reported from Imphal West, Imphal East, and Thoubal Districts.
• In the past 24 hours, 13 villages and 9,216 people have been affected by the flood. In total, 43 villages and 20,639 people have been impacted by the current flooding.
• In the last 24 hours, 1,297 houses were reported damaged due to landslides and heavy rainfall. So far, a total of 3,820 houses have been damaged during the current flood.
• The floods have claimed two lives, and over 2,000 people have been evacuated to safer locations and relief camps.
• According to the daily report from the Water Resources Department, water levels in major rivers are decreasing from the high flood level to the flood level. However, all rivers remain above the warning level.
• Vast tracts of low-lying areas across the state, particularly in the twin capital districts of Imphal East and Imphal West, have been inundated for the past few days due to major rivers overflowing and breaching their embankmentsfollowing heavy downpours.
• A large area in Imphal East has been submerged since the early hours of Thursday after the Kongba River and Imphal River breached their banks at Juvraj Palli and Bashikhong areas, respectively.
