SITUATION UPDATE AND RESPONSE

• In the last four days, the water level of the Ganga and its tributaries has decreased rapidly, with a two-meter drop in Maner, and one-meter drops at Gandhi Ghat, Digha, Banka Ghat, and Hathidah.

• The water levels of the Punpun and Son rivers are also receding steadily. However, the Ganga River continues to flow above the danger level in Patna.

• As of September 25, 2024, the flood situation in Bihar has severely affected 13 districts, including Buxar, Bhojpur, Saran, Vaishali, Patna, Samastipur, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Munger, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Sheikhpura, and Kaimur. The rising water levels of the Ganga River and its tributaries have impacted approximately 17.57 lakh people across 402 villages in 68 blocks.

• A total of 52 fatalities have been reported across Bihar due to multiple disaster-related incidents, including drowning, flooding, road accidents, and lightning strikes, mostly on 24th Sept, 2024 only (Drowning – 37, Lightning and Thunder – 03, Road Accident – 12 )
