Assam:

• The flood situation in Assam has worsened, with three more fatalities, bringing the total number of deaths to 48 this year due to floods, landslides, and storms.

• Over 11.3 lakh people are affected across 23 districts. The worst-hit districts include Lakhimpur (1.65 lakh people), Darrang (1.47 lakh people), and Golaghat (1.07 lakh people).

• Recent heavy rainfall has been recorded in Karimganj (160 mm), Goalpara (160 mm), and Kokrajhar (140 mm), with an average rainfall of 44.4 mm across the state.

• Floodwaters have damaged embankments, roads, bridges, and other infrastructure in several districts. A total of 2,561 houses have been reported damaged (94 fully, 2,467 partially).

• 2,208 villages and 42,476.18 hectares of cropland are underwater. Over 8,32,000 domestic animals and poultry have been affected.

• Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its one-horned rhinoceroses, has been severely impacted by the floods.

• Due to the heavy rainfall, river levels in the Brahmaputra basin and its tributaries are expected to rise, leading to potential floods in additional areas.
