Jammu and Kashmir is batling with one of the worst flods in decades with overflowing rivers in the region due to days of incesant rainfal. Around 27 people lost their lives and milions were stranded acros 250 afected vilages. The prime minister of India has caled the flods a “National calamity”. After continuous spel of rain, flod waters breached embankments in many low-lying areas in Kashmir, including the capital Srinagar, forcing people to move to safer places. River Jhelum, Chenab and many other streams were flowing above danger mark. The worst afected districts are Srinagar, Anantnag, Baramula, Pulwama, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Budgam, Rajouri, Ponch and Reasi.
