Dear CEOs/Country Directors of INGO Country Offices in India,
We, the members of the LOCAL (Local Organisations’ Coalition for Advancing Localisation) platform in India, are writing to you to kindly request your leadership support in taking forward the localisation commitments in India. Established in February 2023, LOCAL is a platform of homegrown Indian local and national NGOs, which aims to set a new benchmark for sector-wide change and promote cooperative and locally-led humanitarian architecture. We are truly grateful to your HQs for signing up to Grand Bargain, Charter4Change and Pledge4Change and thereby committing to reform the humanitarian and development architecture favouring institutional strengthening and functioning of local and national actors (LNAs). Signatory organisations continue to make important and much-appreciated contributions towards localisation, but we believe much more joint and concerted action is required at the country level to realise the changes envisioned. We would like to draw your attention to the following key commitments made through the Grand Bargain caucuses on Funding for Localisation and The Role of Intermediaries inSupporting Locally-Led Humanitarian Action that would benefit from your leadership support:
