CURRENT SITUATION

  • Over 1.69 million people in 29 districts have been affected by flooding in the state of Assam, and 46 lives have been lost in the disaster. Major rivers like the Brahmaputra, Kopili, and Barak are flowing above the danger mark.
  • Incessant rainfall has caused flooding in several areas of Imphal West and Imphal East districts in Manipur, which has been grappling with ongoing ethnic conflict for over a year, after the Imphal and Kongba rivers breached their embankments.
  • Heavy rainfall has resulted in flooding across six districts, impacting 28 villages in Mizoram. In the past 24 hours, 21 landslides have occurred in Mizoram, resulting in substantial damage and loss of life.
  • Incessant rains have severely damaged the embankment of the Leesh River and caused flash flooding in West Bengal
