KCR: Karimnagar won’t face drought

Hyderabad: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday said the successful completion of bringing Kaleshwaram water to Lower, Mid Manair dams and other barrages with an overall capacity to hold 110 tmc has permanently solved the drought problem in the undivided Karimnagar district and also parts of Warangal, Nizamabad and Khammam districts.

“The people of Karimnagar and Rajanna-Sircilla districts can grow two crops in a year even without a drop of rain, thanks to irrigation projects taken up by our government,” said after inspecting Mid Manair dam and offering puja at the site. The water has already touched the full reservoir level in Mid Manair.

KCR said the region could utilise 50 tmc from Lower and Mid Manair projects without the requirement of Sriram Sagar Project water. An additional 60 tmc will be filled into the barrages and farmers need not wait for rains, he said. The CM later offered puja at Rajarajeshwara temple in Vemulawada and donated two calves to the temple. He said the temple will also be developed.
